copper union for worm

Can I get a copper union from lowes to connect my worm and be able to disconnect when Im done that is acceptable. I guess what Im asking is are the all copper and suitable for use. Thanks.

If you shop careful you can find the copper ones , I think you'll tend to find a lot of the cheap ones are made of brass tho ..
so pickling the brass would be in order.
as far as the copper ones, you'll be good to go.

Ok I understand that I want a copper union to attach my worm, but I guess what Im trying to ask is how do you know if it is truely a copper union and if anyone knows if lowes sells them or not. I know they sell unions, but is theres one that I may need to worry about, and I do know about the pickling process, but do you need to pickle everytime you use your still or is pickling just once all thats ever needed.

It has a brass nut, but it doesn't come in contact with the product.

A compression style lead free union should do the trick for ya. JMHO

Here I moved the topic out to the open forums since everyone already posted responses in the mentors section.

Copper is copper. You can usually tell whether its copper or brass just by looking at it. Lowes doesn't sell an all copper union. Neither does Home Depot that I have found. But 4 of my local Ace Hardware stores has all copper unions up to 3/4 in size. Above 3/4 are brass. The connection nut may be brass but the tube and the mating surface is all copper.
