Hello all, I’ve been lurking a while here happily reading and absorbing as much as I can. I truly appreciate all of your efforts and tons of input - it is amazing that such a group exists and like minded individuals are able to form what is essentially a think tank outside of an institute or official organization.
I am happy to report that I'm currently awaiting parts (tri-clamps) to finish my keg pot still/bokabob interchangeable combo. It is gonna kick the arse out of the first one my neighbor and I put together (leaky Stock pot/liebig setup) in the days before HD.
Anyway, the reason that my first post is not in the Welcome Center is that I was hoping to contribute a little bit as well and it pertains to Sugar. I know the ever present search for cheap sugar is the Rum maker’s quest so for those of you in Canada, there is a large chain of Asian supermarkets called TNT. They have a lot of cheap sugar in many different forms. I personally picked up 10 bricks of Brown Sugar at 1.33/package. While it may not be as cheap as Costco, it is also not white refined sugar, which I prefer to steer clear of.
I suppose there is a U.S. equivalent to the TNT Superstore but I’m not aware of it, and prices will not likely be as low in a smaller Asian grocery.
Anyway, here are some pics and thanks again everyone for all of your help that you didn’t even know you’d provided. Once my new still is complete I'll upload picture of it in action.
Cheers!

If you haven't used that stuff. You should find the palm sugar thread. The bottom pick looks like palm sugar. We had a few of us do some experimenting with it in that thread. And the findings weren't as we expected.
I'm not sure of the sugar in the top pic. But there was some other sugars discussed in that thread that mite be the same.

Re: Sugar source...
Thanks guys and hello. I will definitely hop over to provide a formal intro. As for the pics posted, i just threw some up that were on my blackberry, i am not actually going to use the palm or coconut sugar.... I had already read that it wasn't a good idea, more or less. I bought 10 bricks of brown sugar and i will post pics of them shortly, i am on the road at the moment.
