storing temp

Post by mick3b1g »

ive run out of room and want to store/age my jars in a locked room in my basement which is adjacent to my furnace room. this room gets quite hot..80F + from the heat coming over from the furnace room. Will this be ok? I have no where else to store but dont want to ruin any of my likker :)

The heat won't hurt the likker, but, I believe it was Prairepiss that relayed a story about a bottle he had in a closet blowing up.

Yes that was me. If your product will have temp swings. Make sure it has ample head space in the bottle. Alcohol the higher the ABV will expand more then water alone. So it needs more room to expand. Or you have a big mess.
