Can someone double check my math... I had a friend (who owns a cabinet shop) sell me some American White Oak at $0.50 a sq ft. I got quite a bit haha
I really like the honeycomb style so I thought I would do this.
Do a DIY honey comb.
I'd use a hole saw and keep the wood thats left over. So I would have a 1.25" x 6" piece of wood with 6 holes. I would keep the wood from the holes to char and do some experiments with. 1 experiment would be some deep charing and flashing with water to either put in with the DIY stick or toast the sticks and then char the circles left over and set up maybe some sort of Oak char filtration. Havent' totally decided yet.
But My math tells me with 1 stick I'm getting 36.5 sq inches of surface area and that just seems like a lot. I think my Wisconsin Public School math is correct though.
Below is the attachment of the "diagram" (if you want to call it that; just a quick mock up in photoshop).
When I say top, I mean top and bottom surface area and front, it is front and back. I was just too lazy to write it all in.
For the front when it says " # x 6" I am taking the surface area of the circles and multiplying by 6 (for # of holes) and then subtracting that from the overall surface area I got of 7.5.
Thanks in advance.
