I have a Balcone's 5 gallon barrel, it's a good one!
Looks like $119 shipped, not bad.

I have 2 coming tomorrow I will give a quick report on them. A note for any looking at them...there was not shipping conformation or tracking provided. I had to send out an email to get tracking.

I've been using a couple of those for years. Holding up great. I bored a bigger bung and drop charred sticks in for more oak. And still get the evaporation and bbl aging. One has a Bourbon Barrel Breakfast Stout beer in it now. They're nice barrels and come not very used from Balcones. Mine were marked 10 months from fill to dump date

did you notice any off flavor from the original contents? price seems right but for an extra 50 bucks i can buy a brand new virgin barrel.

No off flavors. They smelled sweet and great. Note a used bbl will not give you that distinctive 'new' bbl flavor like you get in a Bourbon. That new wood flavor is soaked out, but there's plenty of vanilla, caramel and other oak flavors left.

also note that they come with rubber bungs...so I think it best to order some wood or cork bungs for it.
