Teflon, natural cork (not bits glued together), or flour dough.

Re: Tri clamp gasket
on one of the other forums I visit, there was a good long discussion on using a cotton gasket, cut out of heavy denim, like from your blue jeans.
Thery then soaked it in a thinish flour and water paste and used it as a gasket and as a kind of a bandage around joints instead of teflon tape like some folks used.
I haven't tried it yet, as I have my still all packed up for a move, but soon as I get setup again, I will gvie it a try

Just wind 3 or 4 turns of PTFE tape (plumbers tape) around the flange on the keg, I have been using this for years, it's cheap, it works, just replace it each time you set up your column.

i used cork for a little while,,, and its a PITA.. once you use it once, it gets all deformed. even if you sandwich it between something, it shrinks.. and keep this in mind, the cork that your supose to use is kinda pricy.

It works... I've used old cotton sheet/pillow case and cotton T shirt strips...beelah wrote:on one of the other forums I visit, there was a good long discussion on using a cotton gasket, cut out of heavy denim, like from your blue jeans.

Re: Tri clamp gasket
I use the teflon tri clamps. I got about 10-15, easy to keep some extra on hand, dont take up space, easy to use and no mess. STpats, even has some for a triclamp to beer keg. Haven't got these yet but will soon. I just used a dremel tool to grind down the ring on one side then lapped the gasket on some wet/dry sand paper for a even finish, and works great between my tri-clamp and keg.
