Heating a mash this way????

Have a thought for cold temps that are coming...if I used a 2 inch copper pipe, capped one end, insert in mash, fill said tube w hot water and insert an aquarium heater Inside the tube. I wonder if it would keep a mash warm enough??? The idea of adding plastics and rubber from the heater directly to...

Water heater elements? I have several 40 gal food grade barrels and was wondering how to keep a wash at good happy yeast temps. Any suggestions on what heater elements and how to use that set up?

Well just found an old guy that has a semi retired orchard. I get all the apples I want for almost nothing!

Have a huge orchard nearby selling blemished apples cheap. My question is what's the avg yield of juice per pound/bushel when pressed? I don't wanna buy more than I need etc...

Well ran my flaked rye recipe I posted earlier... basically
Ended up with neutral flav spirits.. talk about disappointing!!!!!!
Need to try the actual rye bread recipe..just cannot locate they correct

Hoping this results in something drinkable. 2# flaked Rye...brought 1/2 gal of water to boil , dumped in the flaked rye. Stirred it up put a lid on and let it sit overnight. Today I spread it out on baking pans And cooked in oven at 190f for 6 hours. Put into fermenter with 2# corn and 4# sugar diss...

Does the grain after cooking as prescribed carry a strong odor? I guess if it does judging byhow " heavy"
The odor is will help me decide on adding another grain to add addtnl flavor . I have some all grain corn run I could

None of the use able rye bread avail ..tried brew shop for rye. The only thing available is
Flaked rye. I bought two pounds which was all he had. Would this still work???

square instead of round???

I have access to a lot of stainless in square sheets..is there an advantage to round stills?
Or can a guy use a sheets to weld a square one that works effectively???

Ended up with about 4 1/2 gallons to run after straining thru paint after bag. Run started weak compared to say UJSSM . Pitched yesterday morning and in 15 minutes it was a bubblin non stop in the air lock.

I have run into 5 gen of this stuff..It does go sour..noticeably so on gen 2 and so forth. Patience is the key..Mine always stopped popping in air lock after 4 days but smalled finsished about day 6. The mash would clear a little but then adn seemd truly " dead" no slight fizz noise when y...

Extra large freezer bags and a big heavy king pin and pounded it.
Theres still some uncracked but got most of it. Corns cooled to 150
So added barley.. will stir a few times before covering for the night ..will pitch
