I was reading the manual and it talks about not having to make cuts because the product is good all the way through. Is this true?
Do you have to make cuts if you have an all copper reflux tower?

Re: Aquarium heaters to maintain wash temp
I have used one for a long time without a problem. One thing that I have found via trial and error. Don't let the tip of the heater get submerged in to the grain. It will over heat and shutoff.

Looking for opinions
Looking for opinions on these two items. I'm not looking to start a distillery, just for making my own brew. How well do they work compared to an all copper (if you've had both)? Is it worth the money? Would you recommend them to anyone? http://www.milehidistilling.com/products/2-inch-traditional-p...

Ok thank you. I might go ahead and do the 2" then, I don't want to build something twice. I just want to get off of my pressure cooker and move up.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: Pipe sizing?
Hi Googe, When you say quicker? How much quicker do you think? Are we talking about saving 15 min or saving ours? The reason for my question is I found a website that sells the 2" x 1 1/4" flanged adapter welded to copper for cheap. Some of other sites are asking to much for the SS to copp...

I'm getting ready to start building my Keg pot still. I was wondering if there is a difference between using 2" tower or could I use 1 1/4" off the keg as my tower?
What's to gain by using all 2" compared to 1 1/4"?

I'm making a 2" copper column for my sanke keg. The column will be approx 3' tall. What size should make the Liebig in length and diameter. I was originally going to make it 36" long and the inside diameter was going to be 1/2" with an outside jacket of 3/4". But someone said to ...

Re: Still wouldn't run like it has?
So with a pot still you don't really need to worry about temp? Just worry about flow and the actual proof of the output? Last time I ran this still I didn't use a thermometer just watch the flow. I was reading some articles that said to not distill over 172-173 or you will produce rubbing alcohol or...

Sorry yes the 70 is actuall 1.070.
So by saying my wash is 10.32% what exactly does that mean?

Re: Still wouldn't run like it has?
So the SG right after the yeast was pitched was 70 and the Brix was at 17. I used 10ls of sugar and 10gal of water with 10lbs of cracked corn. Distillit-- you gave us the final SG of the wash, but to determine the alcohol content [eg. 5%] you need to divulge either the starting SG or the amount of s...

Still wouldn't run like it has?
So I started off with 10gal of sugar & Corn wash. Final SG before distilling was at .99. Put wash in pressure cooker still and cranked it up 172-174 degrees and nothing came out. So cranked it up to 180-188 and just a few drops came out. So I then cranked it up to 199 degrees and I was able to g...

I had a SS pressure cooker and I removed the nipple that you put the wobbler on. Then I took a step drill bit and drilled a hole just large enough to thread my 3/4" threaded fitting in. I was going to use another threaded piece on the inside to sand which the lid, but didn't need to because the...

I use tap water, dechlorinated with a gram of vit c per 5 gal. Works well. I've used Ozarka spring water, not better or worse. I did get a water test from my local muni-free and useful. Stay away from distilled unless you're desperate. Do you think you could use vit C pills? Do you just heat the wa...
