Re: Hydrogen Peroxide for Aging
Don’t try it after adding it before it deteriorates or dissipates. All I know is a teaspoon of that makes my dog puke up whatever it is she wasn’t supposed to eat.

Interesting - what’s in heads that give that mouth tingling/numbing then? Just curious.

Re: No Mash No sugar
Rice is going great, one stripping run down, a few more to go. Cooking it before hand makes it finish fermenting and turn to rice goo in about 4 days. Then I have some corn. Those have both been documented well so I won’t add anything about them. BUT. what I’m real excited to try is bananas. I did a...

Re: No Mash No sugar
My yeild on rice was a lot higher than corn. Once I read the label I realized rice has more starch per pound than corn. Here's some notes I made: 1 pound sugar = 8.4 oz alcohol = 15 #/gallon 20 pounds corn = 1 gallon = 20 #/gallon 20 pounds rice = 1.5 gallon = 13 #/gallon 20 pounds all purpose flou...

Re: No Mash No sugar
Started a 5 gallon rice batch a few days ago and bubbling along nicely. With the huge corn batch I did about a year ago I just finely milled, but for a small batch like this, and it being rice, a big ol rice cooker just makes it so easy to cook the rice. I also get a snack. I’ll update on if there’s...

Re: No Mash No sugar
Started a 25g batch of all corn a few days ago. Stirring twice a day. Just ground up 50lbs of corn, added hose water, threw in the yeast. Doesn’t get any easier than that. Very active still. I’m thinking it’ll be a couple weeks because I used cold water, but I’ll update when it’s done and volume an...

Re: Dead lizard in wash
You’re right! Fixed title.
For real though - they are persistent. Last year I left one of those gallon soap jugs open and about a half dozen of them jumped in there and drowned.

Re: Dead lizard in wash
Dang ya’ll reply fast! Low wines are in the mid 30s abv wise. I guess it should be pretty sterile. My dog always catches them and rolls on them once she’s done “playing” with them. I just hate that lizard smell, and was worried about salmonella. I’ll redistill and see if that smell carries over - ho...

Dead lizard in low wines
So I found a dead lizard in about 3 gallons my low wines. I searched the forum and it looks like this isn’t common. Do you all think that it will affect the taste? Is it safe? So many of those dang things - I don’t know how it got in.

Re: Booner's Casual All Corn
Tried boomers today, first mash other than sugar washes. I’ve done a lot of all grain brewing, but nothing with raw corn. For some reason after my first 14 gals of boiling water into 50lb corn my temp was at around 175. I went ahead and added some Htl, then started the next 14 gal added ...

Re: Hello from the sunshine state
Is Florida known as the Sunshine State too ? [/quote] What other state is known as the sunshine state? I was thinking about moving the keg around with hot water in it. Weight shouldn’t be an issue with those handy grips on kegs, but an extra 50$ at the welders would save hassle and lessen the risk ...

Good to know saltbush, thought I was missing something with all the modifications I’ve seen on some of the keg stills.
Cracker, I am loving this weather! Wish it would stay this way all year.

Hello! Also just joined. Congrats on the baby - really are no words to describe. My best advice is to just enjoy all the time you have with her! It’s already flying by too quick for me.

Hello from the sunshine state
Just wanted to say hello. I’m an experienced beer/cider/wine maker, and have a good amount of all grain under my belt for beer. I have learned a ton reading and excited to get my setup complete. So far I have my keg set up with a 5500watt ulwd element, controller, and a pot still head on the way fro...
