tennessee whiskey on the discovery channel

Post by junkyard dawg »

just flipped on the tube and there is a program on whiskey making. They started in the barrel house and are going to a distillery after the commercials... Jack Daniels I think... Cool stuff to see....

think ive seen this on 'how its made' before. also seen one where they make distilled white vinegar, they showed tanks on train tracks filled with high proof grain alcohol, i almost fell out of my chair.

I just watched one Monday night that I hadn't seen before that covered the grains more in depth than I have seen on other shows... It explained the differences between regulations regarding what constitutes different ratings... Also covered Canadian and Irish whiskeys, scotch, gin, and even vodka... Even had a bit on Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey... Great show... I think it was on Modern Marvels:Whiskey...

Kind of focused on major brands, but a very good production. I learned a few things: 'iron in water ruins the whiskey'. They even touched on aging and barrel rotation. With David Wondrich and Dale DeGroff on history and cocktails, respectively.
