distilling question

Post by 06busa »

ok
i have made a few washes up now sugar and water and added essences, just like a couple of people mentioned to me here all i am doing is making flavoured cordials which are alcholic

i want to try some of the tried and true recipes such as dwgr or ujssmm.

now correct me if i am wrong

i am currently using an air still( i know not the best but it was an easy introduction)

if i want to use the above recipes will i need a pot still as the reflux and air still cuts out all of the flavour and makes neutral spirit without any flavour

thanks to all who help clear this up for me

You can still use your air still if you only want to distill in 4lt lots but it wont give you the best results, it will be very hard to do cuts, but yes it can still be used until you progress to something better.

Your air still is just an air cooled pot still because it has no reflux incorporated into the design... It won't strip out any more flavor than any other pot still...
