yeast ??

hi all

i brought some brewers yeast at the health shop yesterday

i read that a lot of people use champange or bakers yeast, i could not find these most brew shops sell turbo. the lady a health shop said its been a while since she could get bakers yeast and the local bread shop a couiple of doors down wont sell it to her or other customers

is it ok to use brewers yeast to make my sugar wash to use in still

you can find bakers yeast in your local supermarket :D :D :D

I use bakers yeast all the time

brewers yeast is used as a supplement. it is the yeast left after a ferment.

Look at Sams or your favorite bulk retailer, usually next to the spices or in the baking aisle. It looks like a brick of coffee, but usually in a white package. A lot of people around here swear by it.

i get flieshman's active dry yeast in kilo blocks for 4.95 at the local wholesale place called cash n carry... at that price you can boil cups of the stuff for yeast bombs.... i start my ferments with a tablespoon and it takes of like crazy...maybe a bit yeasty flavor carries across which i like... i think it's a rum flavor... i also use super start distillers yeast ..

+1 on 2lb bulk Fleischmann's from Sam's Club... Haven't had a failed ferment since I started using it...

how much flechmans yeast do you need per 1 gallon of wash?

I use 1 - 2 tablespoons per gallon depending on how fast I want the ferment to complete... I prefer 2 tbsp per gallon because I'm impatient...
