Rummaging around this past weekend, in one of my father's barns

Years ago, he had made a "fryer frame" and had this sitting in it. Huge old water heater burner as well. Never used it.
Couldn't remember where the pot came from.
Early American for sure....found some info on "apple butter kettles"...they all have a loop handle???
Not sure what this was actually "made" for......any historians aboard?
Man, I can see the beginnings of an awesome pot still....but this thing has to be worth over $300
