Can you mix different "stuff' in feint's jar?
Can you mix different "stuff' in feint's jar? Like heads from corn likker with heads from grape brandy?
(I know Dnderhead is going to say "I don't believe you typed that out loud")

That was what I was kinda thinking. I sure appreciate it (and you didn't tease me either)

unless your adding them back on next runs and keeping them under control, they can add up quick and take up space. be sure to keep them marked for safety sakes.

I throw all my fients into the same containers. Rum and corn likker work well together.
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.

I always keep feints separate, but that's just me and I don't make neutrals. Hawke throws them all together. This looks like a question that you have to decide for yourself over time, cornbread. Both seem to work.

I toss all of my feints into a single container and run them off as neutral...

I always throw my feigns in a 20L carboy, when it's full I run a batch of feign's. Now I'm doing corn whisky 90% of the time but I've done other stuff and it does add a "complexity" to the corn flavour. (grape wine or brandy aftertaste)
Although, sometimes I do throw 10-15L of feigns in low wine and run it.
As a side note, "perfessionals" save up all their feigns and do a dedicated run and call it "reserve" like "woodward reserve" etc.

Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

Very interesting indeed. I see some "special reserve stuff" on the way. Special reserve = whatever I have tucked away in the feints cupboard.

This wasn't the quote I was looking for, but it's in the same area. I'm a member of ADI and they (obviously) go into great detail and are very willing to help new distilleries start up. As a person who is only in the business planning stages and not exactly legal at this point I am extremely limited in my posting there. (two ears but one mouth as my dad used to say)

"For number one, when you keep adding the feints (heads and tails) back to the spirits run, the ethanol gets pulled out and used, the foreshots should be collected , not added to the feints, and used as cleaning fluid, or added to your cooling system as antifreeze, or discarded. The tails and heads part of the feints builds in intensity, creating your house flavor.
When you have too much of the feints you distill them separately and you can get some really excellent spirits out of it, the "Distillers Private Reserve."
