Just wondering if I can make a wash, let it fully ferment and then store it for say a week before actually distilling it? If so, do I need to take any precautions to keep it from going bad like keeping it at a constant temperature or does it not matter once the fermentation is complete?
Thanks

just leave it closed, coverd, so dust, mold and bugs don't git in to it.

once a wash is completed temp don't matter. do as dnder said and it will keep for months and months. i had a rice wash set after racking once for 6 months and was fine.
GOT BAIT?

cold does not hurt , just helps keep the "bugs" in controal but all that nesasary. for long term rack, as the yeast can detereate and cause off flavors.

For extended storage it can be beneficial to do an initial racking to eliminate off flavors from the yeast, as mentioned by Dndrhead... Racked and kept in a cool dark area a wash should be just fine for at least several months...

Good to know. For now I just need it to last a week or two before distilling. Glad to know it can go longer with proper care though.
Thanks,

Any longer than 2 weeks or so then definitely rack it off the yeast.

Re: Can I Store The Wash After Fermentation?
Looking for the topic that mentioned heating the fermented wash up to around 150F for a period of time in order to kill the yeasties and any bacteria and then cooling it for storage--I want to store my washes (post fermentation) for a couple of months at a time.
My job keeps me coming and going so I want to ferment several mashes and run as many as possible, but keep the ones I can't get to until next time i make it home.
