Aquarium aerator.
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.
Valved Reflux, 3"x54" Bok 'mini', 2 liebig based pots and the 'Blockhead' 60K btu propane heat

I just use water from the kitchen tap that has a standard household aerator attachment. Even just pouring the water into the fermenter from a couple of feet should aerate it enough.

Re: How do you aerate for 1 hour (Gerber recipe?)
I have switched my method to only aerating once for one minute or twice for one minute about ten to fifteen minutes apart... I have never aerated continually for any extended period of time... Recently I have been using an aluminum arrow shaft inserted into my variable speed drill with the rubber/plastic arrow fletching vanes as paddles due to the small openings in my fermenters...

I do this and find it's adequate. May be an Australian thing.HookLine wrote: ... Even just pouring the water into the fermenter from a couple of feet should aerate it enough.

blanik
Simple potstiller. Slow, single run.
(50 litre, propane heated pot still. Coil in bucket condenser - No thermometer, No carbon)

If it's in a fermenter bucket, I stir it with a big beer stirring spoon for less than a minute every 15 minutes for the 1st hour after I pitch the yeast. If it's in a carboy, I pick it up and shake it good (while holding it upright) every 15 minutes same as above. This has gotten my baking yeast off good within a few hours every time so far . . .

I use a large kitchen wisk and also bring up to volume by pouring from a couple of feet as blanik mentions.
