Post by ozone39 »

Well, eight hours later and I got my taxes done and filed. Paying all that money to the man and he won't let a guy make some whiskey in his garage :(

Sooner or later they get it all in taxes, one way or another...

Income tax
Property tax
School tax
Sales tax
Utilities tax
Vehicle registration (tax, plus tax)
Drivers license (tax, plus tax)
And on and on and on...

On the other hand, if it weren't for taxes I'd have to pay full price for medications, hospital treatment, vehicle registration, three levels of education and a host of other stuff, and, I wouldn't be getting my old age pension. Sure I paid for these over the years, but it's bloody nice now.

The production of tax free alcohol, be it booze, beer, or wine is my own personal protest against excessive taxation.

It may cost twice as much but tax free booze simply tastes better.

I should make that my signature.

I love my country too, but we are a lot closer to being a Communist state than some people realize. About the only thing we can do in this great country of ours now without a state or federal permit or license is go pee, and I would not be surprised if "they" try to make us get a permit to do that before it is over.

Where we live a home owner has to pull a plumbing permit (tax) to install a toilet. You can see where I'm going with that... :?

O
Has it gotten to the point where the plumbing inspector follows you home from the supply house.
Walks into your basement UNANNOUNCED
Meets your 3 pit bulls who never bark , just react.
An then tries to sue you for his $4000 in medical bills.

The $2600 I spent on that lawyer was reimbursed by the town

Here's an interesting point that most people don't know. City water departments can typically come in any time (they usually give you notice) but do not have to. If you have a metered service (thank god I don't, I'm on a well) they can come in to check that the water meter is working properly or the remote signal wire is hooked up and make sure there is not an irrigation connection before the meter. Now granted the water department is not the local law reinforcement, but it's still government. If you deny access, it's pretty simple, they turn your water off. So now your trying to figure out the lesser of two evils. Do I lose water or is that guy going to say anything if he see's that still on my stove top. The water meter is the one piece of property that the government owns that lurks in your crawl space that most people forget about or don't realize.
