Cinnamon Schnapps or Liqueur

Post by Whitedog »

I have searched this site for a recipe for Cinnamon Schnapps or maybe more properly Cinnamon Liqueur. My wife loves this stuff. I was thinking of using either the extract or sticks of cinnamon along with added sugar. I typically make 750ml or 1L bottles. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this subject? Thanks in advance... WD :)

Careful how long you let the cinnamon steep, after making a batch of apple pie, my brother decided to add the extra cinnamon sticks he had to what was left of the rum and after a week ended up tasting much like the Atomic Fireballs candy, I liked it, but it wasn't to many of our friends taste, also might consider adding a tsp of cloves n nutmeg for some roundness, but should do well with some brown sugar.
I beleive there is a reason the ancients frequently referred to it, in thier respective languages, as the water of life.

Did anybody find a good receipt for cinnamon likker?

It's one of the ingredients I can find easy in EC.

I remember a german likker named Goldschläger but can't find a formula for it.

Any good hint would be highly apreciated.

The best recipe for schnapps that I have found is:
1/3 cup sugar
1 bottle corn syrup 16 oz light
mix and cook on medium till sugar is disolved
add 2 cups 80 proof vodka (the better the vodka the better the schnapps)
add flavor and shake
most flavors are extracts but some come in the form of oils.
most extracts will use about 2 tablespoons but most oils are more concentrated and will take drops add slowly and taste
