Nice looking rig for a CM column, Bayou-Ruler... You really need to reduce the size of those images, however, or one of the mod's will either do it for you or remove them...

the old style CM as it should be done there. well done. After you sort out your pictures, I might link your post here to the overview of reflux designs, it's a good example of a simple improvement on the old through column reflux design.

Nice compact Rig Bayou-Ruler... How's she runnin.... I'd probably lose the plastic tube on the take-off and replace it stainless steel or copper. Apart from that, she looks real good man...

is that a rubber bung in the top where your thermometer is at? if so you need to get rid of that. I would also get rid of the rubber hose where your product comes out.
other than that very nice.

The tank is available here: http://www.brewhaus.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

The fuel can is actually farther away than it appears in the photo.

According to my calculations I'm getting 90%abv

I will have to look into replacing the tubing and the bung at the top. She is runnin pretty good far as I can tell. I have put about 6, 23 liter sugar washes through it. stripping run takes about 2 hours and spirit run abut 6 or 7 hours.

I re-sized them. Hope they are better now. I have a large monitor set at high resolution so large images aren't so large on my end.

very nice. I'm interested - do you ever get trouble from the coolant warming, and then changing how much you're refluxing?

That is a 152 quart (143 Liter) ice chest so there is a fair volume of water. That bottle floating there in the picture is a 3 liter cola bottle. I have several of them filled with water that i keep frozen. I will feel the outer tube on the condenser, or the return water. When it begins to warm up I will add the frozen 3 liter bottles one at a time til it cools down to where i want it. The frozen bottles also come in handy for cooling down hot mash.

I took your advice and got rid of the tubing on the take off. I replaced it with a copper compression fitting and copper tubing. Next run I will take a picture of it. Next item on the agenda is to eliminate the rubber bung.

Bayou-Ruler~

I have the same set-up as you, just a little curious as to what you think about it?

For the regulars~

Why the need to eliminate the bung at the top? And what would make a sufficient replacement?

Fiendish, I love it! I have returned my upper column to Brewhaus and I'm having them add a 2'' Ferrule to the top where the Bung usually gos. I'm going to eliminate the Bung by using some stainless tri-clamp fitting and compression fittings to hold the temp probe.

Bayou-ruler, nice looking rig and good job of getting rid of the plastics. I hate to be the one to keep finding issues with it...but, the brass coupling that you used to connect the copper collection tube is also undesireable unless you used the de-leading process here on HD. MM

Thanks for the compliment.

Actually I have been wondering when some one was going ask about the brass fitting and yes it has been through the vinegar and peroxide de-leading procedure.

My column should arrive back to me today on the UPS truck. Brewhaus did an outstanding job on the turn around time. They did the work and shipped it back to me the same day they received it. The other parts that I have ordered are scheduled to arrive on Friday.

I purchased them here: http://www.thevintnervault.com/index.ph ... gory_id=72
