Re: New POT STILL
Nice work, rowdy. That's my kind of still. That coil will work wonderfully. I only have twelve feet of 3/4" and the distillate comes out stone motherless cold, and best of all - living in central Victoria - it only uses a litre, maybe two of water per run.
Simple potstiller. Slow, single run.
(50 litre, propane heated pot still. Coil in bucket condenser - No thermometer, No carbon)

rowdybowdy can i ask you how you clean this keg, i mean with the small hole as the only opening?
Re: New POT STILL
Rinse with water... It has already been sterilized during the distillation process...Gheest wrote:rowdybowdy can i ask you how you clean this keg, i mean with the small hole as the only opening?

About once a year I half fill my kettle with road gravel and water and roll it around for about ten minutes. No need to do it , but I do because I can.

I'm with Rad here. I just spray mine out with some water. The only thing I really clean is where the flour dough has been, and that just takes mostly a wipe down with a sponge.

Re: New POT STILL
Maybe - to clear up any misunderstanding - I should add that I give the kettle a good washing with river water after each run.
I do the yearly stone run to remove the buildup of fertilizers, various poisons and mould killer from the vineyards/orchards, cow, sheep, goat and pig shit, dead animals that produce said shit and god only knows what else is in the river water. Not to mention what we all know what fish do in it.
