What's your stills name?

Little or nothing to do with distillation.

The still. My car, motorcycle nor guitars have names neither. Until they don't do their jobs correctly then they get a lot of names.

Same here... And even if I did name them they wouldn't get womens names, they would bet some quasi-technical term as a name...

My pot still is made out of.......Copper. There are three letters found on most of the pieces and they are "EPC" so I took a screw driver and hammer and made all of the epc's say "EPIC" :egeek:

Started with an airstill that looked like the offspring of R2D2 mating with a Fiat Multipla's dashboard. Decided to call the lad after his father: R2D2. So when I got my second distiller, C3PO was the logical name for that. Nowadays, I actually don't call them anything, since in general they don't listen anyway let alone call me by my name.

Haven't named it yet, but I am thinking about Cushie (Butterfield), from the song

(look it up on Google for the youtube song, several versions)

because it is big.
It is a pot still and the lyne arm is eight feet of two inch copper tube (because I may alter the still one day and didn't want to cut the tube).

Cushy Butterfield
I'm a broken-hearted keelman
An I'm o'er head in love
Wi' a young lass from Gateshead
An I call her me dove........

(chorus)
She's a big lass She's a bonny lass
An she likes her beer
An I call her Cushie Butterfield
An I wish she was here.....
......
Ye'll oft see her doon at Sandgate
When the fresh herring comes in
She's like a bagful o sawdust
Tied round with string ..........

Most of my stuff these days is called "chineese piece of crap".

I don't name things other than boats (should be named after your first born daughter and not changed), but I'm thinking my still in the making will be called

"a boy named sue",

'cause its gunna have to get tough or die.
You design it, I make it. Copper and Stainless. Down under. PM me.

Let's see...

My still was first made and broken in by another man...

Still looks pretty good, but I don't want anyone to see me with her...

Puts out, but only when she wants to and only after and hour of work on her fiddly bits...

Cools down a lot faster than she heats up...

So...should I name her after my first wife?

Usually a name is created by the thoughts you have when interracting with the object to be named. So, my small potstill is called:
"WorkYouLittleBastardAwwComeOnNotAnotherFlakeStandLeakGodDamn!t!!
and my steel column "reflux still" is called:
"TakeForeverToHeatUpYouLousyOverPricedPieceOfSh!tOOOhhhGreatMoreSulfurSmellYouNoCopperMailOrderPileOfJunk!!"

Yup- I'm a romantic when it comes to naming stuff....

Sorry to interject on such a sensitive subject, but all male built or contrived "fruit of my loins" machines are personified with an emasculated name. Using the 2nd or third person pronouns like "her' or "she" is the norm - dare I say calling your 2+2 a him will get you an ass whipping from my neck of the woods.

In 1978 my dad gave me his 1970 dodge charger with a 400 cid, all he said was to keep Betsy happy - he called all his cars Betsy... Me, I call my dog "Diesel" and toilet bowl "Oscar", but my car on a cold morning I call bitch.

My six foot tall copper goddess is a good cookin' girl and called "censored" and rightly so, but had I called her a him and said the man didn't put out! the heads would roll. Please keep it feminine.

KY1792, I see no reason why men need to use a feminine name for everything they own... :eh: I think we've dragged ourselves out of the primordial soup far enough to use any creative name we choose, should we choose to do so at all... I've never given any tool or piece of machinery a name and doubt that I ever will... :ewink: Besides, my stills don't look anything like any female I've ever seen before... :wtf:
