Attempt #2 double coil success

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.

Attempt #2 double coil success

Post by clodev »

Here are 2 pics of my attempts to do the double coil. First is with out packing the 1/4" tubing and rushing it to get done. The second photo is after suffering the humbling defeat that it really is hard to do and packing it with sugar. Bad choice of packing materials, should have used salt (hind sight 20/20) suger sticks.

Good news is the coil looks good and will be functional once i get the sugar out.

Good job on attempt number 2. Winding the coil is often the most daunting part of making a boka.

Now all i have to do is figure a way to get the sugar out. That will take a while.

Toss that condenser in a pot of boiling water and the sugar should turn to syrup and come right out... Then run some water through it to finish the job... It's a pity to have to waste good fermentable sugar, but it's for a good cause...
