I want to mod the desing a little and make it more of a Pot still with a thumper and coil any sugestions leave it or mod it? After i get this built and running my goal is to build a 13 gallon all copper pot still usiing a Copper Milk jug the wife has found at a garage sale but not until i have it tested for lead. Well i cant wait to get off this darn ship so i can get my still put together. Hope to have the first run in by Thanksgiving!

Welcome to HD MikeyMule, I have never heard of that outfit, but I'm sure someone here has, lot of good outfits out there but there are crooks too, watch out for that, you might try the search on here and get more info on this outfit too, good luck.

I have not personally dealt with them, but that copper is really thin, to thin in my opinion. I guess that's why they're so easy to put together.

I think you'd be better off buying a half sheet of copper and following the plans on this site. there's a whole pattern layout andeerything.

get a stainless keg and build your own. That design is no easier to assemble , if not harder, than any typical potstill design youll find on this site.

I'd learne to use a basic potstill before adding a thumper.

Ok so the Clawhammer looks kinda flimsy! after reading through 230 forum post today, like i said retiring very soon ask the guys that work for me they will tell you I'm on the RAS(Not repletishment At Sea) Retired At Sea Program    :lolno: anhy hoo I have decided that the 12 gallon Pint O Shine still is the route i'm going to take and it just so happens that because i'm on a ship that is going away after this deployment I may have a inside scoop on some Copper :shh: I also have a friend that has some 1/4 in sheet that he says i can have for the 3rd run not bad deal in my eyes. Only real question can 1/4 inch 110 Copper sheet be bent into the curves needed to make this with out having to put into industrial benders? :?:
Thanks for the help I know i'm off to a slow start but only so much i can do out here! Looks like i may be able to make a 1/2 IN by 9 coil five gallon bucket sized Worm (for My Magazine collection, I Am A Sailor its been along 7 months!) :eh:

I'd hafta say 1/4" thick copper plate is too thick to form without industrial rollers ...prolly need a forklift to move it around too.
I'd second the notion on the stainless keg boiler, and a Samohons post still, something like that could be up and running in a day, right boys?

Thanks NcHooch so i'm i reading into the thicknes wrong when you say .32 min for a pot still design is that in MM or INCH. I do want to be up and running soon after i get home from deployment, but if i use the old keg style it would only be until i built my Copper Pot. For me its not just about making good quality Drinkin Likkr, but the eye pleasing looks of an all copper still. I will be lookin for a keg as soon as i get home I have all the other parts i need. Thanks for the reality check! :?
Ps my buddie says that the Copper is sheet copper not plate but it is 1/4 inch thick still to big? he was going to use it as a fireplace mantle accent but decided on another design so just has it sitting around in his garage. :?:

I have seen claw hammer selling on eBay and he has a web sight! They look nice, but I have never look at on up close. Like most who sell on the web, thin copper boilers and DWV pipe, go to your local scrap dealers and ask then if you can look at their copper scrap! They will let you look and let you buy if you see something you want! I got a 10 ft pc. of 5" L type copper pipe for $220.00 the last time I look over the copper at my dealer! The last time I priced 4" L type copper it was $56.00 ft., that's $560.00 for 10ft. 5" would well be over $600.00 for 10ft. Check them out, it is well worth the time if you are looking for CHEAP! I went one time and someone had scrap brand new 2" fitting that I know would of cost 40 to 50 bucks each and paid $4.00 a pound!
