Got me some molasses

Post by pistachio_nut »

I got three gallons of molasses for $12.99. It doesn't taste sweet, there's nothing on the label about sulphur, it came in a sealed bucket that said Beaver Brand Molasses on it.

You guys heard anything about this stuff?

It's kind of thin, much thinner than honey. Sticky, black, gets on everything.

Pugirum, here I come.

Sounds like fun PN , let us know how it turns out (and like the recipe says, leave some headroom, or keep the mop handy)

My mom's coming to town tomorrow so I'm going to lay low for her visit. Once she's gone, I'm going to drop a yeast bomb on that shit with no mercy. I had some rum this week that totally sparked a fire up under my ass. It was maybe the most delicious spirits I have ever tasted. Rum may be my thing, and hopefully Pugirum will get me in the right direction.

I like sweet, fragrant, mouth-watering lovesauce. You never knoa, I might buy a barrel to age this stuff in. We'll see.

How'd you get such a good deal? It's $17 a gallon over here at the local cash and carry.

I pay about the same at my C&C here in the PNW, Washashore. Damned find rum comes from that molasses, though. I got some that has been aging on oak for a little over a year and it tastes like heaven. Hard to keep my hands off it. Pistachio, I had the same thought when I first "good" rum, not the Cap'n Morgan shit. I got my hands on some Appleton and I was like "I wish I could buy you a wedding ring". Been a rummer ever since. Even named my sailboat "Rum Runner"...lol. :D :D

I'm about to start a batch of rum too...There is a recipe here somewhere, 24oz molasses, rest white sugar. I thought I had yeast nutrient at home, I don't, so I guess I start that and a sugar wash on Monday.
