Nice stash!
You're doing the exact opposite as me, I went pot first then valved reflux which I'm getting running now.

how did it work out,i felt like i was controlling heat and had very good water flow and kept it good and cold but was still losing a lot of vapor out of the top

i have yet to do an alc run with the offset. with the vinager run I was able to knock down most of the vapour but I'm already thinking of re doing my condenser coil to a dual coil. I'll try it as soon as I get my electric kettle finished.
My big thing is options, I'd like to have the pot for lower flavoured stuff and the reflux for neutral to make other stuff. Hindsight, I should have built a combo style still and have the best of both worlds in one package.
That idea is still in my head. Thinking I may remove the offset and mount it above the column and do a VM still.

i built the" World Class Home Distillation Apparatus"valved reflux,if i had it to do over i would not have a built in condenser i would leave it free hanging and double what it called for,but as is before i use it again i hope to have added more condenser. main problem is height and top heavy, add much more and half way tru a run it will tip over

with all the piping you have, I would go with an inline condenser. More effecient I think.

That sounds like plenty... I'm running 36" of 1/2" Copper inside of 1 1/2" PVC and it works great!

i have done a lot of soldering/brazing and some welding. in my early days i popped a hole in i pipe a few times with a oxygen acetylene torch, but that was thirty years ago and most say i make a very good solder joint-so tonight i ruined two 1 1/2 inch fittings ..well actually four, two 1 1/2x1 1/12 x3/4 tees and two 1 1/2x 3/4 reducers..i have never seen 95-5 solder basically eat holes in copper before.i was using mapp instead of the torch kit because of low gas and used no flux just sanded parts very well- :x
i had the tees reducers were only $8:00 apiece but to replace with just the tees now is going to cost over fifty

Same here. I started with a basic pot still, then added a thumper. I ran this way for about two months. I then built a double reducer reflux still with a 2" x 36" column. I reused my original 32quart boiler and now with a few minor mods its used as my pot still and my reflux still and I still use the thumper when running in pot still mode...

Learning to run the reflux still has definitely been a learning experience..

I wanted to know how you attached that female pipe end to your "top" piece? Looks simple, and no sink strainer to mess with...

yea i know..i already had it ,it set on top of the column on the world class still.i did not solder it in on either.
i put the "t" in the column on this pot for a thermometer but not necessarily this one,and/or to deal with cleaning or packing.
and i am a believer in adjustment and dis assembly it has two unions now and will have three so parts can be broken down and while intact a little loosening and can change angles and re tighten
and thanks
