Hey all,
have a 3" copper pipe for my BOK. was planning on using a reducer (2 in to 3 in) to go from a keg to my column. i have the reducer already, and i also have a 3" weldable ferrule. is it worth cutting the keg and welding the 3" ferrule or is the reducer worth using. i know there is a little bottleneck, but will it make a huge difference?

BOK column keg connection, 2in vs 3in
You want the yeasties happy so they will piss alcohol and fart CO2.

Re: BOK column keg connection, 2in vs 3in
It will not make any difference. Just do not insert any packing in your reducer..
Re: BOK column keg connection, 2in vs 3in
Using the reducer is fine... No real benefit to go to the time, effort, and expense of installing a 3" ferrule...

Re: BOK column keg connection, 2in vs 3in
in my BOK i had this idea of making a cage type tube full of scrubbers that i could remove for cleaning and when i dont want to use them. if i only have a 2" hole through my adapter but 3" pipe, will it matter there is gap around the outside? will vapor just go around more or will most still reflux off the scrubbers? should i not use a cage and pull them out like a normal person? any ideas...

This is not a good idea. That way you separate vapor and liquid path. And reflux efficiency will drop significantly.

As a triclamp/sanitary fitting adapter, rather than a reducer. 3" clamp where the adapter meets the column, and 2" clamp where the adapter meets the keg. You can still do your cage idea, just make it fit the 3" column, and remove the adapter when you want to remove your packing. use one of these
