Re: Prayers needed
Thanks Jim and everyone,
We all know that our folks have to go one day and Lord
knows I spent years attempting to go first. . .
It is a hard time, but I prepared myself for what was to come, as well as I can.

Re: Prayers needed
Dad passed away Saturday (7/26) evening surrounded by his family after a very short illness.
He and mom had spent the prior week here with Wifey and I.
They went home on Monday the 22nd and 4 days later he is gone to his Lord.
He was not in any pain and went very peacefully.
He lived a wonderful life and will be missed by all.
He will be buried with full military honors at the veterans cemetery in Boise, followed by a celebration of life.
Lift you glasses boys a wonderful man is gone.
Thanks for all your prayers

Re: Prayers needed
I am very sorry to hear that Coyote, but at least you can take comfort in the fact that he is at peace and no longer struggling or in pain. It still doesn't make it much easier. And Rad said it well,"Celebrate his life" it's just about as good a tribute as you can give someone. Take care of yourself and your family, I'm sure your Mom could use your support. My glass is raised...

Re: Prayers needed
Coyote,
My dad told me many years before he passed that the passing of a man's father will leave a hole in his heart that no matter what he tries to put back there it will never fill the void. Further, it is not a stationary thing as it moves and hides out only to reappear when you least expect it, always there though. Coyote, I feel your pain and am sympathetic for your loss. Do yourself a favor and dont let the hole become a canyon too deep and wide to cross. With time it will slip into the shadows of other memories. Cherished ones seem to help the most in hiding the hole! Keep making new ones!

Re: Prayers needed
Aw, hell.
I'm so sorry to hear this, Coyote.
I've lost both my parents (Dad in 2006 Mom in 2011) and, obviously, it was rough. With Mom it felt like I lost my best friend and mentor (which she really was, come to think of it). With Dad, it was harder to articulate. On the one hand I felt like he and I had some unfinished or "just begun" business. He was much more approachable as Death stalked him. I also felt like I got some of his toughness and orneriness passed down.
I remember standing in the aisle at Winco and seeing the pretzel section and nearly breaking down completely. My old man was a champion pretzel eater, you see. It still sneaks up on me in the oddest ways. Have to admit there was a period until just recently where I buried my grief in anger, booze, you name it. Just starting to come out of that phase that started nearly 7 years ago.
Please take care of yourself...there may be a couple cracks and fissures in the armor you weren't prepared for where some weird shit seeps in and out now.
PM me any time if you need to rage or hell, I'll come out and bust up a bar or two if needed.
Thinking of you and the time you're going through.
I think you're made of sterner stuff than me, so I'm guessing you'll be fine.
Just know I'm thinking of you and glad your Dad is at peace now and not having to go through the shit my folks had to for several years!!! That itself is a blessing, indeed.
Take care, friend!

Thanks Frosteecat,
I have a wonderful support team of friends and wifey,
Thank God we finished cutting wheat on Thursday, so
I have a bit of breathing room before we start cutting hay again.
I ran the very first wash at the new place and will call it
"Dad's Favorite" he loved the sweet feed blends,
this should be ready for Christmas.
Let me know when your headed to Montana

Re: Prayers needed
I will lift a glass high tonite coyote. May peace be with him, and may you also find peace and joy in your life. Carry on, and celebrate the life that he has given you, and the guidance he has shown and passed down. He will be missed, sorely, but in that, there always will be remembrance of in his glory, and in his times of folly. There is always good times, and bad times. There will be memories that come flooding back in, when you are ready for them, good ones, serious ones, silly ones, and many more. Some, you have to keep tucked in your memory all for yourself. many others will do well to be shared, especially with your sprouts, to keep his legacy alive.
Production of a special batch is always something nice also. I will be making my special pumpkin brew this fall. That was always Barb's favorite. I will cook up about 25 gallons or so, and should get 2 gallons of the stuff she liked. It will be used at the appropriate time. Sounds like you have a special tribute run going also. Be sure to make enough, and let it be drunk when the time is right.
