Help! Im desperate! Wiring heard a pop

Post by diyftw »

Help, im desperate, I had just finished wiring this thing up.

I turned it on and after adjusting the potentiometer I heard a pop in the box. The middle wire to the potentiometer is grounded to the ssr.

I could really use some advice here. Do you think I blew my SSR?

Don't you have a meter/tester to confirm?
Looks like the service life would be very short anyway with not even a heat sink.

The case of the pot should be grounded. Not inevitable the three terminals.

With no ventilation holes in your box, where is all of the heat going into the heatsink supposed to dissipate to??? The air in the sealed box is going to get hot, and your heatsink will get hotter and hotter, until, well, at the very least the life of the relay is going to be shortened or maybe it will flat out fail.
