How to run Auber PID in manual
Here is how to program Auber Pid to run in auto or manual with a push of a button.
Push set button until it goes to menu mode, release button, now press and release to go thru menu.
Go to auto setting, in first pic.
Default setting is 2 , auto only, set to 0, auto or manual, using arrow
After a few seconds it will exit menu mode.
To go to manual press A-M button(2nd from left ), the A-M light will come on. To go back to auto push A-M button again.
You still need to adjust power output. Press, release set button, you will now see an A followed by a number, on the bottom display (2nd pic), this is the output value.
Adjust output values with the arrows. Output can be adjusted from 0 to100. You can easily adjust output values anytime in this mode. Muddog

Hey mud, you look versed on these units, are you able to run in manual mode without the thermocouple hooked up?

Re: How to run Auber PID in manual
PID requires thermoprobe even for manual mode. But you can trick it using 100 Ohm resistor instead of probe.

Re: How to run Auber PID in manual
That is not correct. When you run in manual , you are setting to percentage of time the PID is going to power the element, i.e manual setting of 60 will power elementsambedded wrote:PID requires thermoprobe even for manual mode. But you can trick it using 100 Ohm resistor instead of probe.
60% of time and power off 40% of time , the thermocoupler is bypassed. Muddog

Have you ever tried to run it in manual mode when thermosensor is disconnected?muddog wrote:That is not correct. Syl -2326 just doesn't allow you to do "setting to percentage of time" without sensor.

Re: How to run Auber PID in manual
Yes , I run in manual. I leave it the tc connected. It bypasses the tc.
I use this: http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... ducts_id=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

You are right . I didn't understand what you were saying.sambedded wrote:PID requires thermoprobe even for manual mode. But you can trick it using 100 Ohm resistor instead of probe.
You do have to have a TC connected or a resistor connected for the PID to function correctly. Even though it serves no purpose other than a temp indicator. It is bypassed in manual mode.

I am electrically challenged, how would I hook up the resister? Right now I have to pull out my brew kettle to run PID in manual mode with still, would be great with the resister trick! I have the "fancy" cable and connecter from auberins.

Re: How to run Auber PID in manual
Do you want to hook up resister permanently (directly to PID) or to have an ability to plug it instead of thermoprobe?

Re: How to run Auber PID in manual
I did some searches and couldn't come up with anything on bypassing TC with a resistor.
If some body knows how to do this, I would appreciate a post on it.
In the meantime, if your TC plugs into your control box, ( see pic) you can buy a cheapie TC from fleabay and use it instead of your boil pot TC. Muddog

Re: How to run Auber PID in manual
Typical PT-100 thermoprobe looks like:
Just use a 100-150 Ohms resistor instead of Pt-100 element.

So there you have it . Thank you sambedded.sambedded wrote:Typical PT-100 thermoprobe looks like:

Auber Pid also accepts K type coupler ,which uses 2 wires , can you use K Type setting and put resistor between those 2 wires instead?
It would be simpler that way. Muddog

Re: How to run Auber PID in manual
According to Auber you can do this, instead of using TC or resistor.
From Auber:
Please set the SYL-2352 PID's SN = 0 and use a copper wire to short cut the terminal 4&5 (where it should be connected to the thermocouple). Then the controller will display ambient temperature.
