what does airing out your run do

Just brainstorming, but has anyone thought to just simply age through heat and agitation. Like securing a vibrating sander to a suspended crock pot. Of course you would have to watch your temps but I wonder if something like this could work. Any thoughts??? (Obviously not the same as ultrasonic)

This is some work Odin is doing on those ultra sonic jewelry cleaners, others are using speakers to agitate the alcohol, all pretty interesting stuff.

Yeah. US treatment speeds up the ageing process. If you put an fish tank bubbler in your likker, it especially helps getting rid of headsy stuff. The combination of air bubbler in an ultra sonic bath works best!

I've heard of the big boy distilleries using similar methods, Odin. Stainless steel air stones seem like a great choice for the home distiller.

This last week I found an entire case of failed neutral in my shop. It was in there for over a month while the jars had no lids. Just a sheet of paper over the case. I found the extra time airing out helped the jars that were not so neutral tremendously. It made the difference between something I would not drink and something I would drink.

So.... tried the vibrating crockpot idea... waste of time didn't do a thing at least not that I noticed. Oh well.. have to pony up and buy an ultrasonic like Odin. Lol

Last batch I made tasted great smooth with little or no burn down the throat but burnt the shit out of my mouth. Was hoping to get rid of that.

Quick question: I air overnight and it works great, but I was wondering, If you did an exaggerated "High Pour", similar to what Arabs do with tea, would that be sufficient airing if done several times?

Those magnetic stirrers have been discussed here previously... I have built several over the years and have used them for yeast propagation but they always end up being shelved or tossed out...

The airstone worked for me to reduce strong acetone smell in a quart of heads. Took a day of bubbling, ambient temp of my garage (15C), and lost about 5% of volume.

I could still smell the acetone though, so I ran that through the next run.

I'm going to experiment with an ultrasonic fogger (transducer) both for aging and for fermenting.
