yes it is very very illegal, If you are in Australia making shine for yourself almost surely you will get left alone, if you choose to sell it and they get wind of it they will do everything in their power to hunt you down. It is tax fraud and you will have customs and the federal police on your case, if you got friends that you share a drink with that feel like giving you a bag of grain ect that is about as far as I'd advise ya push it

In Oz, it's not even legal to distill for yourself, even with ingredients you supplied yourself.

Even in NZ, where stillin is legal, you couldn't do what you're suggesting legally.

Maybe this line with help clarify... Hobby scale home distillation for personal consumption... Nothing in that says it's alright to make spirits for the whole community... You make it for you, not others... It's pretty much covered in The Rules We Live By... Someone providing supplies constitutes bartering...
