i want to use a petes plug on top of my boiler. to stick my gauge in,,,it will seal it off

i can get a SS petes plug,,,,but am concerned about the neoprene gasket inside the plug

any thoughts?

Neoprene = no good. Sorry mate but you already knew the answer to that one. If you can remove it and make one out of PTFE and its all ss then hay why not. But I'm sure there are better solutions available.

damn.....figured as much, any suggestions i have looked on site, i have not seen this addressed.
or am just missing it.

i have a 1/4'' coupling on top of my boiler,,,i would like a thermometer here

Find a thermometer with a probe that screws into the coupling, or make one yourself.

You can get those stainless compressionfittings cheap on E bay.
The will fit with ordinary 1/4" NPT.
They are available in several dimentions on the compression ring.
I use one myself. Wrap the thermoprobe in a couple of windings PTFE tape...and it seals well. :idea:
Cost are laughable and shipping costs free.
