vengeance stills
Does anyone have any experience with vengeance still? I am looking to buy a 20 gal copper pot still I am not good at building things so buying one would be best the particular one I am looking at is the 20 gal pot with 2.5 gal copper thumper and a 2.5 gal copper condensing worm and a 240 volt electric upgrade. The total price with shipping is $533. They also claim to have a lifetime warranty. If these are not good still is there anywhere else that you can buy a good still for that price?
Re: vengeance stills
I don't know anything about the company.
All the reading I have done here points to a thumper 1/3 the size of the max charge you could possible put in the boiler.
This makes it future proof and does not keep you from running smaller charges, but a smaller thumper may keep you from running larger charges.
hope that helps some
and all that is from reading, not actual experience, so please what for other more seasoned members to offer help as well.

Re: vengeance stills
The copper on their big stills is really thin and I don't see any rivits. The thumper and worm are undersized.
I've not dealt with them, but I'm not impressed with what I see on their website.

Re: vengeance stills
As noted elsewhere here on HD, the seam on the bottom is just a butt seam - no overlap. Do a HD Google search for Vengeance Stills
Re: vengeance stills
I did do some research I did not find much and did not know if they might have changed something. Do you know where I can buy a good still another site that I have looked at is stillz store.

Re: vengeance stills
I have changed my mind I am now looking at the clawhammer 10 gal copper still kit I have read some really good reviews on here about them.
Re: vengeance stills
Have you thought about building, lots of great plans here on the the forum? If your intent on buying I would check out MileHi, StillDragon, iStill all have good reputations on this forum.
Re: vengeance stills
I have thought about building one but am not good at that kind of stuff so I figured I would buy one that was pre cut out so I know that everything should be correct and later on try and build a bigger one.
Re: vengeance stills
I'm not overly fond of any of the manufacturers mentioned in this topic so far... They all miss the mark one way or another as far as manufacturing, sizing, etc... Plus you could end up on a list that would need to be handed over to the TTB upon future request so you have to take that paper trail into consideration...

Re: vengeance stills
There is that list thing...... listen we could teach a drunk 12 year old how to solder up a keg still. If your serious about learning to distill then learning how to manufacture some of your own stuff is part of it.
A good part of distilling is building shit, a good part of this site is about building, get a 20 dollar propane torch and I'll help you get started.

I'm way up on building your own . The first fellers that did this didn't know what they was doin and they figured this out . We got their mistakes to learn from to not make the same ones . And a great support group to help with a build .
If you ain't the lead dog in the team , the scenery never changes . Ga Flatwoods made my avatar and I want to thank him for that .

I can vouch for the 2 comments above.
I started out thinking I was going to buy. Then build modular stainless steal, then build from scratch.
I ended up getting a diy keg potstill and built that because it ended up being about the same price
I am totally happy with my choice
