Which sweet feed

Post by blm »

My local feed store has two different types of sweet feed one has a lot more molasses and rolled corn the other has less molasses and crushed corn other than that they seem the same which would be better to make sweet feed moonshine.

The one without pellets... Other than that there is no right sweet feed... Corn, Oats, Barley, and Molasses... Pick your poison...!!! Er, I mean mix...

I don't think it will matter much which has more or less molasses (although I would go for more molasses because sugar is expensive). I would look for preservatives. That could be a problem.
Look at the label. I was at Tractor Supply looking at labels and nearly everything I looked at had oils, fats or preservatives. I just want raw corn, oats, barley and molasses. Or just plain ole cracked corn with no soybean oil added or whatever mineral or fat supplement designed for pigs, horses or chickens. I know the farmers matter (farmers lives matter) He he, but hey, ( distillers lives matter too!)

Try another feed store or make your own.

Make your own if you can't get it easy. Bag of cracked corn, Rolled barely and Rolled oats and some feed molasses. 30/30/30/10

Tractor Supply no longer stocks non-pelletized sweet feed from what I've heard... Once existing stock is depleted it will all be pelletized...
