It is pretty country saw a bit round there had tour of butcher's hollow and all that went to a country music show in paintsville met a lot of good folks before heading up to Ashland to catch a bus to Columbus and on to Detroit

You're right, it was SBB. My short term memory does not serve me well. I've taken that same miserable ride on Greyhound a few times. It really blew me away learning that you and SBB ended up in little podunk Paintsville from all the way across the pond.

Buddy if mine at work shot a nail thru his finger today at work. I pulled it out. CAnt believe skin can stretch out that much. He was lucky it didn't go into the bone.

Yeah nail guns can be dangerous if not used correctly. One time we were setting ceiling joist on a two story. And a coworker shot a nail rite down into the top of his foot. Rite thru the boot. Thru his foot and into the top plate of the wall. We took a sawsall and cut the nail . Sliding the saw blade under his foot/ boot to cut the nail. He was nailed to the top of the wall. And was stuck there. Cutting the nail was the only way to get him off the top of the wall, he was nailed too. Then took him to the hospital to have the nail removed. Because it was so far down in the top of his foot you couldn't see it. And it came out thru the bottom of his boot and into the wall.....

On one occasion I watched my helper shoot himself in the ankle, while stepping up onto some scaffolding. He had had his finger on the trigger, but the trigger safety was wired back and the nailgun tip was modified in a way to 'flush nail' siding (not my doing). So he shot himself in the ankle, with a 3” ring-shank nail (a kind difficult to pull out) who's head was seated flush with his skin or the leather of his boot.

After a pause I pulled out a pair of dykes (electrician's wire cutters) and a hammer, and approached him ready to extract the nail. He screamed.

That's why my coworker shot himself. It was the paslode framing nailer. That had the red trigger kit installed. So if you keep your finger in the trigger, it'll shoot each time you press the head against whatever you are nailing. He accidentally hit the top of his foot with the end of the nail gun. Nailed him rite to the top plate of the wall .... Didn't bleed a drop... Till it was pulled out...

At the previous stud the nail had deflected and gone in through the tip of his thumb parallel to the bone. Like an internal splint. He apparently went quite white before being carted off to hospital.

I can't believe what I just did

My heart is still racing and my hands are shaky!

I think I need a drink to settle my nerves!

I was in my garage cleaning out the east tunnel, trying to make a path big enough to get the stilling equipment out the door and to the shed when I did something horrible!

I've been filling boxes with various bottles one had a bunch of flip top beer bottles. Another Champagne bottles and others various alcohol bottles I've salvaged out of my local bottle dumpster. I've moved away from using flip tops and switched to only a certain kind of Champagne bottles so was considering offering those on Craigslist.

I've also started only using a couple different cork type booze bottles for the hard stuff and was also thinking about offering the ones I no longer use to people. But then the unthinkable happened!

I took all of those bottles and threw then in the recycle bin! I don't know what came over me! It just happened so fast!

On top of that, I have 2 dozen ore more Patrone bottles and If I actually make it to the Southeast corner I have probably a hundred or more booze bottles and I think 4 or 5 cases of crimp top beer bottles that I'm afraid might meet the same fate!

I think you need to stop, sit down and have a few drinks, give some serious thought to what you have done or are about to do.
Then take a 24 hour cooling off period before throwing any more perfectly good glassware out.

I think that's a good idea SBB. I think about all the less fortunate stillers out there who don't have such good access to bottles.

It reminds me of a recent conversation I had with someone I work with who walked out of Ethiopia during that famine in the 80s. I told him how it was my parents fault he almost starved to death. Whenever I didn't want what was for dinner my parents would say "People in Africa are starving". I would then hold up my plate and say "Here, send them this", but they never did.

It's not exactly like that with these bottles but I know there are people who would be more than happy to have them but I probably have a lifetime supply of them now and keep bringing home more. Even so, it's hard to just throw them away.

I gave away a metric shit-ton of bottles a couple years ago. Then my first daughter got married and wanted me to brew a commemorative wedding beer, which required purchasing four cases of bottles. The horror of it all!

Cranky, just to make you feel a little better about the sins that you have committed in your easten tunnel in past days I've taken a photo or two of Tunnel No 4 in one of my storage areas.
I was hoping to get as far as the bottle storage area to take a few pics but ran out of time and energy to shift things.

I too like the artillery round. I have what looks like the shell that would go with that projectile.... my shell is the 105 mm Howitzer and stands about 3' tall. I'd love to get the projectile like you have there. Nice

I have the shell , the projectile is a fake made of hard wood, to make it look complete.

Thats a nice pic of the canister the round was shipped in I believe. The shell with yellow bands looks like an old style HE round but the fuze isn’t right? Need an old cannon cocker to say for sure.
