Where the heck are all of the pro-turbo fans? This is after all a turbo Fans page.

HELLO; YOOO HOOOOO...!!!

I still haven't had a single nibble on my heavily discounted: - TURBO - PRO - PACKAGE - DEAL OF THE CENTURY -

Perhaps I was too condescending towards turbos in some of my posts and frightened them away. If so, let me say the following to remove any doubt:
Dear turbo enthusiasts; Please know that if you buy my unused and unloved turbo supplies I will not judge you or think less of you in any
way (so long as payment clears). If your money is good, then your reputation will be solid with me. And later after your first batch ends up
tasting like shit and you call me wondering what went wrong, I promise to not say "well, ya dumb noob, you should have used baker's yeast!".
I promise, promise, promise, to be considerate and never say that to you.

Even though this is already the turbo Deal Of The Century, I'm going to add one more incentive to get you to buy it now. Seriously, this package at this price should have sold yesterday in seconds, but all of the pro-turbo's were sleeping or something. So now, with this extra item - added at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE - significantly adding to the monetary value of the package but also to bring closure to my own pro-turbo chapter of my life. I am including a copy of the book "MAKING PURE CORN WHISKEY - A Professional Guide for Amateur and Micro Distillers". It was written by and personally handed to me by the very author who sold me all of these beautifully packaged turbo supplies, now being offered to you. It's almost poetic.

Image

OK, here is my FINAL, FINAL, FINAL OFFER:
This book + 17 essences + 5 packages of carbon + 22 turbo yeast + my gratitude
Approximate Retail Value: $250
YOUR PRICE: $70 + SHIPPING

Edited to add:
Lets do some math here. If you are planning on buying that book anyway ($25) and perhaps that carbon for your fish tank ($55) then at my price of $70 you are already saving $10; PLUS you are getting all of that turbo and essence for free!

Edited again to add:
Hey MODS can you please check my Inbox? There must be something wrong with it because I've not yet received a single PM for this offer.
That is the only possible explanation why this amazing deal hasn't sold yet. Isn't it? :)

I wonder if we could start a collection here to cover some of the shipping charges to NZ for jase? Any takers? I'm sure that halfbaked will PM you some of his magic essence as a thank you gift and free trial.

I just started reading it this morning. In the book he strongly promotes turbo yeast and other professionally packaged yeast products and scoffs at bakers' yeast. Here is a quote:

"Bakers' yeast is actually a form of brewers' yeast as well, and since it's readily available and inexpensive, it has been used extensively by home distillers to make whiskey and other spirits. However, it's quite unsuitable for making whiskey. It produces a very unbalanced flavor with quite undesirable nuances, so it's strongly recommended that it be avoided for whiskey making."

I'm wondering if the book was sponsored by Gert Strand; the brand of turbo endorsed by this book (page# 61).

It's funny how he talks about off-flavors with bakers, but not with turbos.

The problem is that the book is based on one mans opinions and he also just so happens to produce turbo yeast... :problem: Hmmm...

Bakers yeast doesn't make good whiskey...??? Better tell all the old moonshiners who didn't want to rely on wild yeast and all the distilleries that use plain old bakers yeast manufactured by companies like Fleischmann's - which, incidentally, was also a distillery before prohibition...

Yup. He also talks about the importance of distilling your wash within 96 hours of pitching your yeast (pages# 77 & 85). According to him fermentation should only be allowed to run for 72 - 84 hours; add another 12 - 24 hours for clearing then run it before bad flavours develop ("from the consumption of dextrins and polysaccharides").

I know that some large commercial distilleries get their wash into the stills that quickly. But that is more about maximizing volume and profits due to diminishing returns with longer fermentations. On the hobby level I'm guessing that the author was using this procedure to help promote the use of Sparkaloid or Turbo-Clear, which he also happens to sell. :!:

With my AG washes it takes longer than 96 hours just to let it clear on its own; and that is after a 7-10 day fermentation. I can't imagine doing a stripping run within 84-96 hours of pitching.

Ian is like anybody else. We all have our opinions. The key is to read as much as you can, everywhere, then start trying stuff, then determine for yourself what works and what doesnt, for yourself. This sport is like any other, and opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. But you can learn a slice of something from everybody if you listen for the good stuff.

I agree 100% Jimbo.

Good grief; I just got to the part in Ian's book about doing a spirit run charged with 70% abv low wines and leaving it unattended (pg119)  :wtf:

How the hell do you get to publish something as dangerous as that without a lengthy legal disclaimer at the beginning and end of the book?
Nowadays you can't buy a hammer at the Home Depot without a warning message telling you NOT to hit yourself in the head with it and that it is NOT safe for human consumption (yeah, I know I'm exaggerating - but you get my point). Yet, this guy can publish a book that instructs readers to bring 35L of a highly flammable liquid to a rolling boil in the basement of their homes and leave it unattended for 12 hours. Holy F__k!

The book's cover claims to be "A Professional Guide for Amateurs..." yet it does NOT have a chapter or even a single paragraph dedicated to safety considerations and practices?! Obviously a minor oversight; but hey, at least he dedicated several pages to the wonders of turbo yeast!.

Ssshhhhh!!! Don't go telling everybody! We don't want a huge influx of tourists in Old Zealand! I honeymooned in the largely unkown beauty that is Old Zealand. The beautiful blue sand beaches. Lazy days sipping rum on the pier while fishing for giant squid. Not to mention all the wonderful breads the natives make using their generations-old strains of Baker's Yeasts.

haha. On a note related to the title of this thread(which has now been abandoned) I used Prestige WD before. It wasn't too bad. I've currently got a new experiment. I'm using 4 buckets of UJSM with 4 different yeasts (chico, bakers, irish ale, and presitge without AG) and planning to mix the low wines. We'll see

8 months later and not a single offer. It's now free for local pickup.
I'm keeping the carbon for a relative that has an aquarium; otherwise the rest is going out in the trash by the end of the month.

It's safe to say that anyone on this board promoting turbo yeast are selling, not buying.

30 year old Cuban rum is Communist and probably unsafe to drink. I will email my address and you better send it to me and I will properly dispose it for you.
