Will this work?
Me and a guy at work were kicking around the idea of putting together a still. This was his idea of a nice compact design. 1-1/4" main column with SS scrubbers, reduced to 1/2". Leibig cooling lines run crossways through the main tube. since finding this site and doing a lot of reading i'm wondering if this design is a waste of time. Looking for any improvements I should make before I solder this together......or should I scrap it and build somthing like the apt. still? I would like it to be compact, low cost, and produce a somewhat neutral spirit. I have a 3 gal. stainless stock pot. I was also wondering about how to attach this to the pot lid. Will these conduit nuts work or should I try solding on a ss sink drain flange?

Lots a feed back round here pretty much shreds that design. It's antiquated.
Gents el be by shortly to set you straight.
Looks like you fellers do nice work so it'll be a snap re-work that into a better unit.

Your money and efforts would be better spent on a Bokakob LM or a Vapor Management design... But before deciding on a design you need to consider what type of spirits you primarily intend to make... If you want neutral spirits, like vodka, then a reflux column is the way to go... However, if you want flavored spirits like whiskey or brandy then a pot still would be the way to go...
Do your research and ask questions... We're here to help you along...

From looking at your photo, your shop is WAY too organized. To make good liquor you will have to work on not being so anal retentive.
