hello to all

Post by WVHillbilly »

I've been lurking on your forum for some time and have finally joined. To give you a little background, I'm on the east coast USA and I've been making wine for about 4 years. Actually when I started my wine making I figured it would be a step up to distilling. I've read Ian Smiley's book making pure corn whiskey and also read Leon Kania's the alaskan bootleggers bible. That was 4 years ago. Now my interest has peaked again and I have started on my first still. A bok LM design. I got a heck of a deal on a peice of coppper 2 inch x 6 foot. Only $4.71 per foot! They didn't know what they were selling. :) I'm thinking I'll have a 48 inch packed column. I've already tried my hand a winding a condenser to put in the 15 inch long head. That should leave me with a 9 inch peice so I can use it as a pot still also. I've got a line on some brass unions that should bring it all together. I just hope enough water flows through that condenser. Time will tell. Anyway, Hello to all, I'm sure I'll be posting more later as questions arise.

Welcome aboard WV. Your condenser should do just fine as long as you don't flatten it out to much when winding. Take a look at hookline's tutorial on winding a condenser.
Good Luck

You'll find it here, WV. http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 2#p6827432

You probably haven't found the search function yet. At the top fourth button in. Some folk say the google search is better, but I find the other to be OK. You choose which you prefer.
