Post by john87454 »

Hi, my name is John and im an alco,,,,,,, wait, wrong forum

I've been thinkin about makin a high alcohol beer or sumthin' like a wine with one of the high alcohol turbo yeasts and was wonderin' 1)Is it possible. 2)would it make it taste like crap? I read somewhere that they dont make many off flavors if you don't push 'em to the max. Idk, im a  noob,

Greetings, john87454...

You do not want to make "beer" using turbo yeast... The results will be undrinkable... Turbo yeast is best left for making fuel, even those some folks here do use it for making neutral spirits... It doesn't work well at all for any flavored spirits and should only be used by itself rather than with additional ingredients...

Welcome john87454...

+2 Great advice on the turbo's... Bakers yeast. Cheap, available and will beat turbo's hands down.
Distillers, wine, and beer yeast are a little more costly, but they are manufactured to the beverage your making...
I use bakers yeast for my whiskey/neutral and have never had a failed batch. They taste good too..

Nice to have ya, be safe man... :ewink:
