My Pot Still

Post by GingerTop »

Since I finally joined, thought I should post a pic of my first pot still (ok, maybe not my FIRST. That one was a 1.5 gallon aluminum POS. First one I'm proud of I guess I should say). This one is 7.5 gallons with a worm condenser.

Looks good GT, what were you cookin there? .
I take it you're running a trickle of new water in the bottom of the worm bucket and the warm stuff runs out the top hose?
Have fun, and still safe.

Nice straight forward set up. Keeping your collection vessel way away from those flames gets a thumbs up from me.

Yep, and some pvc and great stuff to stabilize the coil. This site was a ton of help during the build. And if I remember right, I was running UJSSM in that pic. Trying to think of some way I can put a pre-condenser in that column and pack it with scrubber pads to adapt it for reflux stillin, but I think I'm going to have to gain a better understanding of reflux stills before I do that. Kind of a high column for just a dedicated pot still...

how'd you build that pot? This is pretty much exactly what's in my minds eye, but I can't think of a way to secure that top to the big pot.

Flour paste and binder clips... Doesn't get much simpler than that...
