Hello to the Fermenting Gurus out there. I am quite new to distilling and have only done about 5 different washes so far . I atempted an Econowash and it seems to be stalled at an SG of 106.
Here is my recipie:
36 liters of water total
1/2 teaspoon epsom salt
5 teaspoons DAP
2 teaspoons citric acid
2 crushed multi vitamins
1/4 cup yeast boiled in 1 liter of water for protien
510 KG of sugar
Pitched 2 packs of EC 1116 yeast at 85 degrees
Starting SG was 108
After 5 days it is only down to SG 106
Can it be saved?
Thanks, Terry

How many kilos of sugar?
Re: Econowash Stalled, Can I Save It?
Sorry. ...its 5 kilograms of sugar
Re: Econowash Stalled, Can I Save It?
Did you mean 1.080 OG and then a reading of 1.060 after 5 days...??? That's not my favorite recipe there and the citric acid might be dropping the pH down too low... Try adding 1 - 2 tbsp of baking soda to raise the pH... If you have test strips, check the pH first... You may need more...
Re: Econowash Stalled, Can I Save It?
Yes that's what I mean with respect to the SG's.....I will try adding the baking soda tomorrow and report back. I will check the pH first.
Thanks for your help

rad14701,
You were right on with respect to the pH being too low. I just measured it at 3.2 on my meter. I added first 2 tablespoons of baking soda which brought it up to 4.2, so I added another 2 tablespoons which brought it up to 5.2
I will check in the morning for activity.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the advice given here on the forum, up to now I have been reading, reading and reading, but sometimes it takes experience to lend a helping hand.
I'm truly grateful for your help, Terry

Re: Econowash Stalled, Can I Save It?
Checked my wash this morning and the pH is 5.2 and there is no activity, I'm thinking I should repitch the yeast?
Thanks, Terry

Pitched more yeast this morning and I'm back in the game, thanks to rad14701 for the advice and the fix.
It's bubling along nicely.
