Color Coding - a mystery to me!

Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

Color Coding - a mystery to me!

Post by Socrates »

OK, I'm no dummy, but I AM getting older and darn if I can't figure out the color codings for the various post. They are driving me nuts! So far I seem to find six types:

1. red
2. red with "moving text"
3. black
4. black with a red "star"
5. black with "moving text"
6. black with "moving text" and a red "star"

I think I've had too much to drink, lol...help!!

Not sure I'm following what you're talking about... Maybe it was your eyes playing tricks on you because I don't recall any "moving" text... Not sure about the stars either...

I think the star indicates posts you have replied to. Moving text indicates there are posts since you last viewed. Not sure what the color coding is. I think all of it depends on weather you're logged in and have cookies turned on.

red means there are new posts since you read the thread last
the moving text(either color) means its a popular thread with alot of activity and posts
black is just a normal thread
the star(either color) means you have posted in that thread
the exclamation point means it is a sticky

and you can mix and match these

Ok... If that's what Socrates was referring to then the post makes more sense... Some of the answers can be found in the FAQ section and the rest can probably be found at http://www.phpbb.com/support/documentat ... /index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow if you'd like to know the full in's and out's of the forum software... Just remember that different forum skins look and act somewhat differently...

What colour coding, moving text and stars???? I see none of these but it doesn't really matter, however I am curious.

The only colour I see is when I use a word that normally has a u in it and I get a red line telling me that I can't spell, eg colour, flavour, odour, rumour, et cetera.

even et cetera is wrong it seems. Computers are quite dumb.

You won't see them mate if you have retained the old style look of the Board by selecting sub silver in the Board Preferences in the User Control Panel.
New-comers or those who have opted to go with the new look (pro silver) have a different looking page where all of these new-fangled sparkly things happen.
Don't worry about it though, there are more important things to do like making that horse feed mash work. 8) 8) 8)

Cheers.

I'll whack the barley broth through just to use my new parot.

A few folk have seen it and think it's the newest bong design - whatever a bong is?????

Blanik, You and me both know that a "bong" is the sound you get when you hit the end of an empty 44 gallon drum

Shit, I knew that I'd heard that word before. I must have had a senior's moment. :) :) :) :) T

Talking of senior's moments, I've lost the key to my shed and all the ancillary equipment in it. Woe is me. :( :( :(
