Re: Glenfiddich Single Malt 12yr

My money is spent on a lesser known but reasonably priced scotch called Aberlour. Fantastic. Giv'er a try. Bought a bottle 4 years back and never strayed since.

Agreed, stainless will be mildly magnetic due to the chromium content. I've never seen a keg in the US/Can that was aluminium and that one is definitely ss. Good luck with your build.

Re: Post a Favorite food recipe <<>> Lets see what's cookin.

Brew's Pulled Pork: Get a 'pork shoulder' from the store... this is not a good cut of meat but it works amazing for this recipe. Don't try to buy lean meat for this recipe, it wont work. You need fat. Period. Sprinkle the entire roast lightly in cayene pepper Cover it in fresh ground pepper... lots ...

Welcome Clearcut. Here are some tips: Most people here don't watch the temperature control or even have on on a pot still like yours. Monitor the ABV coming out and the rate. Your wash recipe sounds like it could use some work. Look in here for the tried and trued... lots of good stuff there. If you...

Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method

I'm positive someone has asked this question but cant seem to find the answer, so please bare with me. When you rack UJSM from the original ferment, does it come off clear? If not (mine came out cloudy)... I'd imagine you'd want to? Do you fill up the fermenter with water for a few days so the yeast...

How do you seal your mason jars

Hi Folks,

I have some mason jars with glass lids which are perfect, but don't want to use the rubber gasket to seal the lid to the jar. How do you guys seal your jars? Thanks,

Hey Guys, I've noticed that on the Pinto Controller, the diagram Crude2 (not sure what page) has MT1 and MT2 backwards from is shown on some peoples pictures of their wiring (of the same controller). Because power can flow both ways through a triac, does it matter which is which (for MT1 and MT2)? T...

Solder the bolts in so the dont leak. Yes solder. Next get some decently thick natural cork and make your seal. You do not need music grade. It'll work.

If yer lookin for economical, you can achieve it here. A simple pot still will work well and can be done cheap and safely. A reflux is a bit more spendy but again can be done pretty cheap. That being said, I thought I'd be able to slide into this hobby cheap as well... turns out I like buidin sh*t. ...

If its an external drive, there is usually just a plain ole hard drive inside the enclosure. If you took it out and hooked it up to your computer via one of the ide cables inside it may work. Never done it but who knows... If the hard drive is making sounds and it doesn't sound like finger nails on ...

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Only ever had one day when I struggled with soldering. It was the new flux I was trying. The solder beaded up like I was trying to solder glass to aluminium. Pitched the flux, bought some Oateys and never looked back. Looks like you just need a breather and to hit it on a different day. Good luck.

Re: Soldering stainless with plumbing solder... it is possible

Not just doable, its pretty easy once you find the right flux. I knew it was possible using very high silver content solder but that was way out of my budget. The plumbing solder works perfect, its cheap, we all have lots... propane heats'er up well too. Good luck.
