Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
Well, this link was posted in another thread - http://www.ttb.gov/press/fy14/press-release-march2014.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow . That's straight from the horse's mouth. OK I read this when it was posted and read it again today. I still don...

Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
I have how many were there ? just because a poster thinks its related to the list doesn't mean it is. Has the TTB come and said were now busting people from (a list) when I see that statement Ill know for sure.

Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
Snuffy I think what Brewhaus is trying to say is Not that the ttb could be trusted not to go after and use the list It's that the list wouldn't be useful to them and as would dilute the list they already have which is already too big for them to go after each name. that sounds good but again, if yo...

Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
We have had some change here in my state as it pertains to Pot decriminalizing it for less then 2 grams, but I saw also that the sale or import of ever clear is now banned retailers are permitted to sell off what they have and that's the end of it. Makes no sense to me take away a high proof spirit ...

Re: Trading for a used still legal?
I live in Georgia, USA. Last year the Tap water was so horrible that I decided to distill my water and bought a 5 Gallon SS Still after I contacted the TTB about the laws in GA and owning a still of just 1 Gallon size was just impractical. I do not have the exact quote from the emails handy for thi...

Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
Wood I agree 100% Brother I also completely distanced myself from any distillation equipment and or any related items just to make sure there is nothing for any law enforcement to arrest me for, even though I could have just gotten a fuel permit to keep my equipment. I would rather there be no reaso...

Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
Family first always Brother. Its My pleasure and I Did exactly the same Bob I'm not on TTB list yet but will be next month so I figure if I'm gonna do this and rest assured I AM, I would need to get rid of everything. I only make what I want to consume in a certain amount of time so no excess laying...

Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
Well I'm no virgin seeing as how my ass has been handed to me plenty in my life. I'm certainly not afraid to have my life pried into. No distiller here and nothing incriminating. so they can come look if they want to waste there time. That said your are correct with your approach and its exactly the...

I signed up and sent an email. There are 3 brew shops in my area that I go to I'm sure one of them would get involved on a personal level. If the info is ready please PM me I'll send my email address so you can send me the information. I don't mind getting my hands dirty and I'm a pushy bastard when...

Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
very valid points Varo. I see a large revenue increase by legalizing on a hobby lvl I personally know a lot of folks that would love to distill if there wasn't a chance they would be arrested. All those folks buying supplies means more revenue. I'm just one person, I'm sure everyone on here knows at...

Re: Legalizing Hobby Distilling in the US
I can and will make up some flyers for my local brew shops with a link to the site. I think it's important to realize we are hobbyist and don't want permission to do anything other then craft out own sprits for personal consumption, just as were permitted to make beer and wine. I think once folks wo...

Re: etching mash kettles
Very cool stuff I remember doing this in shop class in school but forgot about it till now. I do my own PC board etching, anodizing and plating unless its something big then I take it to a customer of mine who can plate metal. I saw some etching kits at a craft store last week for metal and glass. g...

Re: have a ?
there are a ton of reasons that things don't boil off at what we deem the proper temp. I used to be a thermo watcher and where I live I get no product till 180*F I was completely confused as Alc. boils at 173*F and lots of nasty stuff before that. I stopped using thermometers except to tell me when ...

HEHE I should have known better we always called it back wash but your rite its backset. However I didn't know you could add it to ferment for sour mash I haven't made any of that, maybe I will give that a go.

Re: Leftover wash AFTER distillation
if you mean the back wash a percentage of it can be used in a run with heads and tails added to it. other then that I toss it out its not much good for anything else if you run save 50% of the back wash add the heads and tails to it redistill then use 25% of that on the next go with heads and tails ...
