Quick Turbo-Yeast Question
I recently ordered 3 sachets of 48hr turbo yeast from ebay. In 2 of the sachets the yeast is "loose" and there is extra room inside the pouch, but the third appears to be as vacuum sealed. Is that sachet no good??

Re: Quick Turbo-Yeast Question
If anything I would be more suspect of the two sachets that are "loose"... The bakers yeast bricks I buy are vacuum packed and hard as a rock until opened... Any of the three may or may not be viable and that's why we "proof" yeast before using...

Re: Quick Turbo-Yeast Question
I would say ditch the turbo yeasts to begin with...
alcohol density in the mash isnt a big deal, thats what distillation is for. and the higher the alcohol content in the mash, the greater percentage of nasty fusel alcohols and crap are generated.
your much better off with 2L of 5% then 1L of 10%
My 1lb bricks of bakers yeast come vacuum packed. the 1g packets at the grocery store do not
