Fermenting in 5gl waterbottle

Fermenting in 5gl waterbottle
I have seen some talk about plastic leaching out, but would this apply for fermenting one of those 5gl. water jugs. i was reading that its ok. but i just wanted to know all your take on that

Plastic is fine for fermenting. Its the high abv stuff and vapors that can leach.

I use 5G/25L plastic water bottles for fermenters... I like the fact that I can see the wash and know when it has cleared...

Hey rad how do you clean those with out scratching them.
I'm looking at going plastic, glass carboys at 50 bucks each are a little out my buget currently.
