Introduction

Post by Henri »

I'm Henri and I'm new to the forums. Earlier this year I read an article on a blog about someone buying a Smartstill (Airstill), and I was very interested. Luckily, I did some research first, and instead of buying a Smartstill I build my first potstill. The "building" consisted of drilling a hole in the lid of an aluminum pressure cooker, and attaching a bended copper tube and a liebig condenser. It was very ugly, but it worked! I distilled a couple of liters of very cheap wine, macerated some herbs en distilled my first absinthe. I also fermented and distilled some sugar wash.

The still was too small, the spirit it produced was far from neutral, so I ditched the pressure cooker. I am now almost finished collecting the parts and materials for a VM reflux still and a potstill head for stripping. I will start building soon.

I am very impressed with the amount of information on these boards, and I have to thank everyone here for sharing. Internet at its best.

Henri

BTW if anyone knows were to get copper adapters and/or unions in Europe, please tell me!
