This hobby/art is really taking off. If a guy could get a good reputation in the various forums there might be a living to make.

Apparently there isn't a lot of reputable competition.

I am happy building stills for people, but I find they only want to pay for the cost of the materials and want the labor for free. :?

Shop cost for a legit operation in my market is 70 bucks an hour on the low side.

One is almost led to ponder whether these guys do this intentionally, in an effort to get you so pissed off that you voluntarily draw Johnny Law to your door... They obviously know that they are sending out inferior product so either they just don't care or there is an ulterior motive...

What surprises me the most is that someone hasn't rewarded them with a good old fashioned ass beating or worse by now, as an unquestionable indicator that it's time to cease and desist...

My understanding is that they was located up in Michigan. He's now relocated over to Colorado. That might have had something to do with it.

Here is a site I found tonight. http://www.ripoffreport.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

This site allows you to place advertisements about rip off companies.

I wonder if putting 25 or so posts, from people who have actually been ripped off by this vermin would help to keep the heat on him(them), and help to keep unsuspecting people from getting involved with them?

finaly got mine, it was so sticky and gooey you could of used it for a fly strip. Soldered crooked, and that joke of a soldering job on the thumper was hillarious. Crooked and soldered at an angle so bad the jar wouldn't even fit on it. he didn't even take the time to remove the price tags from the copper fittings, just soldered over them and burnt them around the joint. I redid about everything on it and I also ran to ace hardware and got a lead test kit. Tested negative thank god. Half of my stuff wasn't there, and it was supposed to be an electric pot, so he told me when I ordered.Of course it wasn't. The handles on the pot were leaking water fast as you could pour it in. Had to go to the anvil and rivet them better. My flange also rusted as soon as water touched it. My wife used the fermentor bucket to make bulk laundry detergent, and the rest of the stuff I just threw away.

DCT, he yelled at me too and also said " Your bustin my balls here" Then got the "I'm stranded somewhere locked out of my car so I can't get your tracking number which is locked in the car"
Then I got, "I'm haveing personal problems, give me a break here", then I got" yep, it's done, will be mailed out monday" The excuses were so humorous, it was almost like a dial a comedy sitcom/drama.. Also if you wanted directions to his house, do a reverse lookup on one of his numbers. It gives you the exact address and Google earth gives you a view of his house and sheds from 2 different streets, complete with all the "STAY OUT" signs posted everywhere.LOL

I will say here that after the initial scam takes place, the phone support has been great.

If you are going to buy anything from this guy, do NOT buy a still, buy the plans which are all done by website passwords on his site and build the still yourself. When you buy the plans etc... you get the phone support too. You just cut out the BS of not getting the product.

Why give this THIEF anything???? All plans and support can be found on this site.

I would not want to run one of his stills (even if I built it from his plans). They are a farce. It is not just HIS shoddy workmanship that is bad, but it is also terrible designs. That slant tube is a joke. Using a glass 'thumper' looking thing is a joke. All in all, ANY money you send to this guy, would have been put to better use if you used it to wipe your own ass and flushed it when done.

Someone that flies by this site, has 4 posts, and posts into this thread about anything good to say about this VERMIN, is not looked at well by the members here. Very likely, we are again seeing the stilldrinking owners, doing a drive by posting again, trying to tote up their site.

NO,NO, NO, 3 of my 4 posts have been on this thread in the last page or 2 after I found this thread from being frustrated by not getting the still. Lie after Lie. I had to totaly redo the dang thing once it came in, 6 weeks after the order. It was so crappy, I redid everything except a few joints.Even went as far as getting a lead test from Ace Hardware, I redid the thumper jar to my liking as well and got rid of the junk tin lid and rubber grommets, replacing it with a copper disk. I was so sick to my stomach after what I recieved, I wished I'd just done it myself, which I basically did. For what the still is, it works very well, grantit, this is my first time, so I cannot compare it to others, and No it's not as complex as some of these fancier columns, but one member on here and I have compared notes as well as another off site guy, and they were very impressed with the alchohol % average. All, I'm saying is, I had several questions that I wanted to just talk to someone about in person, not a computer forum. What he or Brian told me ended up being helpful, and they answered my questions, and walked me through some steps that I had questions about. After I got past the initial bullshit of not getting what I ordered and lie after lie, the rebuilt product and phone support has not been that bad. I kinda like the glass thumper, you can see what's going on and watch it work. And don't get me wrong, these guys are complete crooks, do not order a still from them. I'm just reporting my experience with the phone support part of the deal and my experience operating what I recieved. Please, don't associate me with them or black list me. I'm just trying to make do with what I got myself into. I love reading and learning here and hopefully being a part of this site in the future as I get more experienced.

RR, you are not about to be black listed. Hell, when jimbo or john boy, or whatever the hell his name was, logged on before, and tried to boost his biz using this thread, he was not black listed. He was mocked, ridiculed, and showed for the charlatan he is.

However, since you have been ripped off by these crooks, and pretty much had to build the still all over again, I still find it hard to believe you are advocating sending them money in any form, for anything. That is all.

Oh, btw, welcome, you WILL find all you need here on these forums to produce a fine end product.

Thanks Husker, from what I've read so far, there seems to be a lot of good people on this site. I still haven't read through all the Popcorn Sutton threads yet. That man has facinated me and have enjoyed reading about him on here. Planning on trying UJSSSM recipe someday too. I can see where this can be a very fun and relaxing hobby, which is why I started in the first place. If I hadn't thought I was getting ripped off, I might of never found this place. Found this place after a google search for "Paul Cavalloro" while waiting on my order. Never knew such a place existed before that.

Recon the upside really does help maintain some kind of cosmic balance.

Recon if you'd gotten your still on time from vender in question,,,, you could have stumbbled around the hobby for years.

Hey guys! I joined this forum a while back in hopes to find some more knowledge about home distilling, which I most certainly have! I stumbeled across that sham of a website this morning, and actually got interested for a little while. I even talked to mr paul on the help chat thingy.. he was nice and answered every question i had flawlessly.. I couldn't help but read the grammatical errors on the page that my 12 year old niece wouldn't even make and got increasingly cautious about the site. I was browsing around for a site to buy a still from, and started noticing that 2 websites had the same pictures, same setup's and same half haggard girl spread out in the pictures... THEN i saw the kid and knew something was up... WHO THE HELL DOES THAT?? O yea, now that i have seen a 12 yearold (LIKE MY NEICE) posing for a gat damn still, i REALLY wanted to buy it.......... Being in research mode i naturally came here next, and after some long browsing came across this post.... I knew something was up, and in fact spent all morning reading all these posts which i got a lot of laughs out of. (NOT BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE GETTING SCREWED) sorry guys that got f*cked.... i almost fell prey as well... Thanks to all the real heads on here that stand up against shiesty con artists and help out the noobs (like me) for the love of the craft. After much looking and thinking (and remembering i have a keg in my garage and a buddy who is a manager at ace) I will be posting some pics up within a few days of the setup i will be building.. Thanx all for the info, and one hell of a site!! Cheers fellas

Hi, Im new to the forum. I found it about a month after I ordered from the people at stilldrinkin. After finding this post I was very worried that I would never see my still or worse I would get it and it would be complete junk. After five weeks of waiting I called the guy and he gave me some line about the order was shipped or misplaced because they just moved. He offered to give me a free fermentation jug and free yeast and to reship the still. I opted for a full refund. After a few days and five emails later he agreed. I received the check in less than a week. Im still shocked that this went so well .

Well... I'm just trying to help keep this the longest post after post reading on the site.
When I first started trying to search the net for plans or equipment, I ran across their sites as well as others. I gotta admit that if you don't know what a real rig should be, it would be prity easy to fall for these "Meth addicts - alcaholic, ect" various scams. Kinda like pulling monkys out of a berrel and hoping you get one that don't bite. Being that this craft is under the radar, it has a sort of feeling like you are in the dark, when you first start. I had no idea that there was such a wealth of information available, when I first started looking.
I would have to go with Rad on this one. These tweekers are playing with the public some how. You can't just build stuff out of SS and copper for as long as these !@#%$^@$h!t and not know how to do it the rite way. Especialy when you (they) know about and read this site. As far as promt fabricating and shipping... If you drink, smoke, inject, and otherwise ass>vram money people send you for a product, instead of building the thing that paid u to do, then it might have to wait until your next sucker sends a little more meth-money.
Clasic Junkyard junkies 101% I'de suggest goin in heavy if your gona go. These types aint got enough sense not to start shooten or somthin stupid.

I'm glad I was just trying to steel as many ideas as I could for my own build. :D

To add on to the previous: If we ever want to get this legalised, It would be a good idea to get rid of bad publicity. If big brother can use them types to keep a hold on what they want, they will.

Welcome McNally (this is a hell-uv-a first post if there ever was one)

I'll give you the short and the long version.
short: Don't buy it.
long: You'd be much better served reading this site for a spell than spending money there. Don't ask how I know. If after reading this site for a couple weeks and your still dead set on one of those stills PM me and we can discuss your options. I spent the money got the still -- yada, yada, yada.

It aint such a bad design as it is bad workmanship and worse service. Pot won't hold up for any length of time. That whole thumper bit is a bit over-the-top for a fellar just starting out.

good reading

I understand there is a clash between still drinking "The Original Home OF
'Turbo Stomper Stills'" and http://turbostompermoonshinestills.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow which also makes them but claims "still drinkin stills will poison you".

Or perhaps it's all fo' sho'

Yes Manu -- Paul will tell you all about it when he talks to you. The little still they show with the skanky chicks is the same design I use for my stove-top still except without the in-line thumper thing he has there. The performance and ease of operation for a newb is a good place to start, it's just that the workmanship could be a whole lot better and the pot will fall apart on you. If folks are interested on this design I'd be glad to talk to them about it. I've run this unit many, many times and I'm please with the performance.
