Re: Cheapest way to aquire heating elements?
I just walk into Home Depot or Lowe's and pay ~$10.00 USD for a 120V 1500W element... Even the most expensive 240V elements are only in the ~$30.00 USD range with most of them under ~$20.00 USD...

$10! Wow that's cheap you yanks got it alright geez
What about those of us who have a keg which isn't flat on the bottom (wait, are you intending on putting this element inside the still?) and need to use a burner, any ideas where to get one in Australia?

Elements can be got from any electrical outlet at about $25.00 + and burners can be got from any BBQ place, Bunnings or camping supplies. Even BCF has them. 3 ring banjo for about $35.00.
Kegs I get from the tip for about $5.00 ea

Re: Cheapest way to aquire heating elements?
you can get propane from a grocery store here in the states. i dont know why you would need propane with an electric element
.
dont take this personally, but it sounds like you need some more reading and research. we all do at some point.
these elements are not the hot plate types, they are elements for hot water heaters. they would be internal. but if you use propane, you wont be using electic heat. you got some basic things that need worked out. read on my friend....
