That article is a prime example of someone who has no clue of what the hell they are doing going ahead and publishing potentially dangerous DIY information... Close, but no cigar...

Hi Rad, is this comment ment for me (my avatar)?
Please let me know and I will not post here anymore.
Let me tell you that I macerate and process (pressing, filtering, pasteurizating and bottleling) about 15.000 Kg monthly Noni fruit since more than 5 years and it's very related to fermenting. Anyhow there comes always something new and it needs to be understand and learned.
I worked 2 years ago in a project of elaboration Limes vinegar but it couldn't be finished due to few interest of the local agriculture folks which prefer to bring their harvest to the local market and get ripped off by the intermediates.
I'm reading about 10 hours daily, not only in HD. How many time an average Joe can read, learn and more than that: practice? Maybe 2 hours a day?
I'm not saying that I qualify to give advice to anybody and I'm very careful to do so, especially if it comes to something dangerous.
My stills (I have 5 now and one mini Apollo still of 3 Ltr. is in work) are well done, thanks to all the advices of you folks here, but the Apollo is based on what I was reading elsewhere and is a semi industrial, mobile still cause of his product output in quantity (2 gal/h) and quality (hearts of 75%).
The essential still which I didn't post here till now has a professional purpose and it's the reason why I came to distilling in general and with that to this site.
I will built another still this year which will be closed to OD's Coffey but in 6 inch and it will be a continuous action.
I am only one step away to get my official permit for I will get a special certificate and will be able to sell my product nationwide, but that will still take a while. distilling alcoholic beverages; that paperwork includes a sanitary inspection of my lab, that’s a reason why I always hard and not soft solder.
Once that I establish a receipt for a whiskey elaboration for the local taste I will get a special certificate and will be able to sell my product nationwide, but that will still take a while.
So, my plan is to be a future professional in this biz but I have to read and learn much more, recently I understood how plate and continuous stills really work and am able now to calculate the builts.
All my machines like presses, filters, pasteurizaters, bottling, etc. I built by myself as this is my real studied profession.
If you think that I published any "dangerous DIY information" please let me know where and I will do all to get it deleted.
Respectfully
Joe

I hoped so but wanna be sure.
Rad was one of the mentors that showed me the right way to avoid the typical mistakes of a beginner.
This site is so essential if you wanna do something serious in stilling and has almost all infos you need, thanks to the ones which spend their time to show others what really matters and what is secure.

Rednose, I guess I could be wrong, but I don't think Rads comment was a jab at you. Close but no cigar is a very common American phrase, I use it about once a month. It's not a insult.
Furthermore I have yet to see you post anything that could be considered dangerous, and I'm very impressed with your builds.
If I feel like someone on this forum has a problem with me I just PM them and make It strait. It usually turns out better, that way no one get defensive or bent out of shape.

Haha, maybe I should change my avator with that phrase, you are right, that is offtopic and should be talked in a PM but my post isn't offensive so I will not delete it.
Thanks to clarify RD.
Have a great, stilling weekend all.

Here Red, take a look. It's merely common lingo, and was not refering to you.

Hi Red and everyone,
Rednose I really enjoy reading your impressive posts.
It's interesting the different meanings words can have between languages, and between countries using the same language.
Many years ago, my Polish colleague told me, he asked a Russian for (I think) some matches and used the (German or Polish) word.
Anyway he nearly got into a fight as it was the Russian word for a lady's...er...personal parts!
And our American friends happily talk about a lady's 'fanny', meaning her backside, but we in Australia use that word to mean her, er...., 'frontside' (!!!).

Re: worst still design known to man " the killer "
Actually, here in the US we don't use the word "fanny" very often at all... We simply call the backside an "ass" - not to be mistaken for a domestic farm animal... And we use several different slang terms for the front side, like "pussy" - not to be mistaken for a domestic cat...The Baker wrote:And our American friends happily talk about a lady's 'fanny', meaning her backside, but we in Australia use that word to mean her, er...., 'frontside' (!!!).
Oh, the complexities of international language interpretations...

i dont see what the big deal is. my set up is mostly black iron and asbestos for packing. column painted in lead based paints. heated with gasoline. on the carpet. on the kitchen floor. next to the baby crib. with 60 small terriers running about my feet.
no but really, that is a bad setup hes got there. L O V E the steel pipe with steel wool...AKA black iron pipe with filth stuffed inside. makes you wonder if he read any of those books the heat is sitting on.
gives people the wrong impression of our beloved hobby.
